Sonya is a direct decendant of William Yellowrobe who was married to Agnes Marshall. In August of 2011, Sonya & her son Alvin traveled to her reservation’s tribal office in Rosebud, South Dakota and met with Rodney M. Bordeaux, President of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe (at the time) and John Spotted Tail, Hereditary Chief, hoping they would agree to let Sonya fly them and some drummers to San Francisco, CA to perform her Grand Opening ceremony. They agreed. Its tribal members endorse Sonya's efforts in starting an authentic Native American Lakota Sioux restaurant in San Francisco, CA. There will be prayer, drumming, singing, burning of our sacred sage & sweetgrass, dancing, to bless Sonya’s new establishment. It's going to be an awesome event and experience for all to learn how our tribe performs its traditional ceremonies for its members.
